1. ENGINE IMMOBILISER SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

(a) The engine immobiliser system is a system that prevents the engine from starting when the key ID and the codes registered in the main body ECU (network gateway computer) do not match.

3. SYSTEM FUNCTION

(a) When the main body ECU (network gateway ECU) detects that the un-lock warning switch assembly is on, it applies power to the transponder key amplifier assembly, and magnetizes the area around the antenna coil. The transponder chip inside the key grip uses the electromotive force generated by this magnetism to output a key ID signal. The transponder key amplifier assembly receives the key ID code signal, and this is boosted by the amplifier and sent to the main body ECU (network gateway ECU).

The main body ECU (network gateway ECU) checks whether the key ID received from the transponder key amplifier assembly matches the registered key ID. Simultaneously, the main body ECU (network gateway ECU) communicates with the combination meter assembly*1 or transponder key ECU assembly*2, and checks that the ID (meter ID) registered in the combination meter assembly*1 or transponder key ECU assembly*2 matches.

At engine start, the ECM communicates with the main body ECU (network gateway ECU), and checks the results of the verification with the key and the combination meter assembly*1 or transponder key ECU assembly*2. Furthermore, this checks that the ID (engine ID) registered in the main body ECU (network gateway ECU) and the ID (engine ID) registered in the ECM match, and if either of the IDs do not match, then the engine will be prevented from starting.
