Repair Procedure

1. Remove the speaker grille.

Refer to the Technical Information System (TIS), applicable model and model year Repair Manual:

^ 2013 FR-S:

Vehicle Interior - Interior Panels / Trim - "Upper Instrument Panel: Removal"

2. From the rear edge, lift the speaker grille upward Improperly Routed Speaker Wire to inspect the position of the wire harness. Confirm that there is interference between the tweeter wire harness and the dash support as shown in Figure 2.

3. Remove the tweeter from the original speaker grille.

4. Replace the speaker grille (RH/LH) as necessary.

5. Install the tweeter into the new speaker grille.

6. Re-route the speaker wire harness by pushing the wire harness forward, toward the front of the vehicle. See Figure 3 to correctly position wire harness.

7. Install the tweeter/speaker grille assembly into the dash by first, engaging all 3 forward hooks into the rectangular cut-outs in the dash (make sure the speaker wire harness is routed forward of the dash support as shown in Figure 2).

Refer to TIS, applicable model and model year Repair Manual:

^ 2013 FR-S:
Vehicle Interior - Interior Panels / Trim - "Upper Instrument Panel: Installation"

8. Once all 3 forward hooks are in place and the wire harness is routed correctly, lower the rear edge of the speaker grille into the dash making sure that you hear the "click" sound as the clips (near the tweeter and the two clips at the rear most edge of the grille assembly) engage the rectangular cut-outs in the dash.

9. Confirm appearance after assembly.
