DESCRIPTION

The main body ECU (network gateway ECU) receives the following switch information:

* Light control switch is in off, tail or head position

* Headlight dimmer switch is in high, low or high flash position

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (HEADLIGHT DIMMER SWITCH ASSEMBLY)

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(c) Turn the Techstream on.

(d) Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Main Body / Data List.

(e) Read the display on the Techstream.

The display is as specified in the normal condition column.

B -- INSPECT HEADLIGHT DIMMER SWITCH ASSEMBLY

C -- INSPECT HEADLIGHT DIMMER SWITCH ASSEMBLY

A -- REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU (NETWORK GATEWAY ECU) Removal

2. INSPECT HEADLIGHT DIMMER SWITCH ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the headlight dimmer switch assembly Removal.

(b) Inspect the headlight dimmer switch assembly Testing and Inspection.

NG -- REPLACE HEADLIGHT DIMMER SWITCH ASSEMBLY Removal
OK -- Continue to next step.

3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HEADLIGHT DIMMER SWITCH ASSEMBLY - INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY, BODY GROUND)

(a) Disconnect the 3B instrument panel junction block assembly connector.

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance (Check for Open):





Standard Resistance (Check for Short):





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

OK -- PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE Exterior Lighting System

4. INSPECT HEADLIGHT DIMMER SWITCH ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the headlight dimmer switch assembly Removal.

(b) Inspect the headlight dimmer switch assembly Testing and Inspection.

NG -- REPLACE HEADLIGHT DIMMER SWITCH ASSEMBLY Removal
OK -- Continue to next step.

5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HEADLIGHT DIMMER SWITCH ASSEMBLY - MAIN BODY ECU (NETWORK GATEWAY ECU), BODY GROUND)

(a) Disconnect the D5 main body ECU (network gateway ECU) connector.

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance (Check for Open):





Standard Resistance (Check for Short):





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

OK -- PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE Exterior Lighting System
