SEAT BELT: SEAT BELT WARNING SYSTEM: OPERATION CHECK; 2013 MY FR-S [03/2012 -]

1. INSPECT DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHT

(a) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(b) Check that the front seat belt warning light on the combination meter assembly flashes when the driver seat belt is not fastened.

2. INSPECT PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHT

(a) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(b) Check that the front passenger seat belt warning light on the telltale light assembly flashes when the front passenger is seated and the seat belt is not fastened.

(c) Check that the front seat belt warning light on the clock assembly goes out when a passenger is seated in the front passenger seat, and the seat belt tang plate is inserted into the buckle.

3. INSPECT SEAT BELT WARNING BUZZER

HINT
If the buzzer does not sound, then the buzzer cancel setting may be on Programming and Relearning.

(a) Lift up the vehicle using a swing arm type lift Service and Repair.

(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(c) Have persons sit in the driver seat and front passenger seat.

NOTICE:
When getting into the vehicle, do not touch the seat backs.

HINT
At this time, do not fasten these seat belts.

(d) While having the driver seat or front passenger seat belt tang plate not inserted into the buckle, drive with a vehicle speed of approximately 20 km/h (12.5 mph) or more, and check that the combination meter assembly buzzer sounds at an interval of 1.2 seconds for 30 seconds, then at an interval of 0.4 seconds for 90 seconds.

(e) Check that 2 minutes after starting to sound, the buzzer stops sounding.

(f) After the buzzer stops, turn the ignition switch off, and then restart the engine. While having the driver seat or front passenger seat belt tang plate not inserted into the buckle, drive with a vehicle speed of approximately 20 km/h (12.5 mph) or more, and check that the buzzer sounds again.

(g) After the buzzer stops, insert the driver and front passenger seat belt tang plates into the buckles. With a vehicle speed of approximately 20 km/h (12.5 mph) or more, check that the buzzer starts sounding again when the driver seat or front passenger seat belt is unfastened.

(h) After the buzzer stops, move the shift lever to R and then to D, and with the seat belt tang plate not inserted into the buckle, drive with a vehicle speed of approximately 20 km/h (12.5 mph) or more and check that the buzzer starts sounding again.
