SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: REAR FLOOR AIRBAG SENSOR: INSTALLATION; 2013 MY FR-S [03/2012 -]

1. INSTALL NO. 2 AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY

(a) Check that the ignition switch is off.

(b) Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

NOTICE:
The power window system utilizes a mechanism that the door glass moves down slightly when the door is opened, and that the glass moves up when closing the door in order to prevent the door molding from being damaged. When the battery negative (-) terminal needs to be disconnected for servicing, fully open the driver and passenger door glasses in advance.

(c) Connect the connector to the No. 2 airbag sensor assembly.

NOTICE:
When connecting airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

(1) Be sure to engage the connectors until they are locked (when locking, make sure that a click sound can be heard).

(d) Insert the pin (stopper) into the rear floor hole and install the No. 2 airbag sensor assembly to the rear floor panel with the new nut.

Torque : 7.5 Nm (77 kgf-cm, 66 in-lbf)

NOTICE:
* If the No. 2 airbag sensor assembly has been dropped, or there are any cracks, dents or other defects in the case or connector, replace it with a new one.
* When installing the No. 2 airbag sensor assembly, be careful that the SRS wiring does not interfere with or is not pinched between other parts.
* Make sure that the pin (stopper) is securely inserted into the body hole.
* Tighten the nut while holding the No. 2 airbag sensor assembly because the No. 2 airbag sensor assembly pin (stopper) is easily damaged.

(e) Check that there is no looseness in the installation parts of the rear floor airbag sensor.
