Positive Crankcase Ventilation: Testing and Inspection

1. Check all PCV hoses and connections for leaks and clogging.
2. Check the oil filler cap gasket for damage or leaking.
3. Check the PCV valve by the following procedure:
a. Disconnect the hose on the PCV valve while the engine is running.
b. With one finger on the open end of the valve, rev the engine slightly. A vacuum should be felt on the valve. If no vacuum is present, inspect or replace the valve as necessary.
