VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH TURBOCHARGERS
SUBJECT: TROUBLE CODE 44: DUTY SOLENOID (WASTE GATE CONTROL)
Should you encounter a 1987-1/2 XT, 1988 4DR, station wagon or 3DR-coupe vehicle equipped with turbocharging which exhibits a trouble code 44: duty solenoid (waste gate control), you should use the Diagnostic Trouble Shooting Chart below in addition to the Service Manual Trouble Shooting Chart found in section 2-7.
NOTE: PLEASE BE AWARE THAT CERTAIN CHARACTERISTICS MAY GENERATE A TROUBLE CODE 44. HOWEVER, THIS DOES NOT ALWAYS INDICATE A SYSTEM FAILURE. IF THE WASTE GATE CONTROL SYSTEM COMPONENTS TEST GOOD, YOU SHOULD NOT ATTEMPT ANY FURTHER REPAIRS.
