Ensure select lever is relative to the shift cams and inhibitor switch positions. Also ensure vehicle starts and back-up lamp illuminates when select lever is properly positioned. Check for continuity at inhibitor switch electrical connector terminals, Fig. 10, by following the continuity check chart Fig. 11.
1. Position select lever to N range, then loosen inhibitor switch retaining bolts.
2. While holding pressure against select lever toward P range, match the locator to bracket hole and the moving plate pin to arm hole. Tighten inhibitor switch retaining bolts.
3. Check for proper operation.
