CHECK ENGINE LIGHT MOMENTARY ILLUMINATION TROUBLE CODE "32" OXYGEN SENSOR IN MEMORY
Some 1990/91 Model Year non-turbo Subaru Legacy vehicles may experience water intrusion into the inside of the oxygen sensor from situations such as driving through standing water. This may result in the oxygen sensor not operating momentarily. Under this condition the electronic control unit (ECU) identifies and stores an oxygen sensor failure code and illuminates the "CHECK ENGINE" light. During continued vehicle operations the entrapped water is vaporized and is emitted into the atmosphere, which results in the oxygen sensor reverting to normal operating condition and the "CHECK ENGINE" light being turned off. The "false" failure code is retained in the ECU memory. Use the trouble tree to identify the trouble code causes.
