Refer to Fig. 7, during removal and installation of the instrument panel.

Fig. 8 Trim Panel (D) Location:

1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then remove trim panel (D) from instrument panel shown in Fig.8 .
2. Remove three lower instrument panel retaining screws.
3. Remove clip from steering column shaft while lowering cover, if equipped.
4. Disconnect ventilation duct combined with trim panel (D) from heater.

5. Remove three fuse panel retaining bolts, Fig. 9.

6. Disconnect ram pressure ventilation cable on driver's side of instrument panel, then from lever rod Fig. 10.
7. Disconnect heater control cable from the left side of heater unit, then remove control cable from clamp.
8. Disconnect upper end of cable from select lever rod.

9. Disconnect vacuum hoses, Fig. 11.
10. Disconnect lefthand side instrument panel and body electrical connectors.
11. Remove steering wheel, then steering column from vehicle.
12. Disconnect speedometer cable.
13. Remove three center tray/console box retaining screws, then center tray/console box.
14. Remove passenger side lower instrument panel trim cover, then glove compartment hinge retaining screws.
15. Working through glove compartment opening, disconnect blower motor vacuum hose.
16. Disconnect electrical connectors from righthand side of instrument panel.

17. Remove retaining bolt trim covers from instrument panel assembly, Fig. 12.
18. Remove instrument panel retaining bolts, then disconnect radio antenna lead.
19. Lower instrument panel, then remove from vehicle.
20. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:

a. To set instrument panel into position, attach forward lower center section of instrument panel on cowl bracket flange as shown in Fig. 13.

b. Ensure placement of instrument panel is above windshield cowl weatherstrip as shown in Fig. 14.
