Fluid Filter - A/T: Service and Repair

A: REMOVAL

NOTE: The ATF filter is maintenance free. Replace only when there are obvious dents or damage to the filter or if there is oil leakage from the joining area to the transmission.





1. Drain ATF completely.

NOTE: Tighten ATF drain plug after draining ATF.

Tightening torque: 25 Nm (2.5 kgf-m, 18.1 ft. lbs.)





2. Using ST, remove ATF filter.

3. Get new ATF filter and apply a thin coat of ATF to the oil seal.

B: INSTALLATION
1. Install ATF filter. Turn it by hand, being careful not to damage oil seal.
2. Using ST, tighten ATF filter to transmission case.
Calculate ATF filter torque specifications using the following formula.
T2 = L2/(L1 + L2) x T1
T1: 14 Nm (1.4 kgf-m, 10.1 ft. lbs.)
[Required torque setting]
T2: Tightening torque
L1: ST length 0.078 m (3.07 inch)
L2: Torque wrench length

CAUTION: Align ST with torque wrench while tightening ATF filter.

3. Add ATF.
