Air Bag(s) Arming and Disarming: Service and Repair

AIRBAG (SRS SYSTEM) DISARMING
When servicing a vehicle, turn the ignition switch OFF.






Disconnect the ground cable from the battery.
Wait for more than 20 seconds before starting work.


WARNING: The airbag system is fitted with a backup power source. If the airbag system is serviced within 20 seconds after the ground cable is disconnected, it may inflate.


ARMING
Reconnect the battery ground cable.

Turn the ignition switch to ON.

Verify that the air bag system warning light illuminates for approximately 6-7 seconds then goes off.

If the air bag system warning light remains on, off, or repeats flashing after servicing, there are malfunctions in the system. Refer to AIR BAGS (SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS) / SYSTEM DIAGNOSTICS.
