Background
Introduction
The California Smog Check program, as well as other State Inspection & Maintenance vehicle emission inspection programs, use the underhood Vehicle Emission Control Information (VECI) label as an integral part of their visual emission inspection procedures.
Subaru of America, Inc has determined that the 2006 model year Subaru Legacy and Outback with 2.5L non-turbo engine and equipped with California certified Partial Zero Vehicle emission control system (PZEV) have a typographical error on the underhood VECI label. The incorrect label identifies the number of sensors as five (5) as indicated below. The correct number should be two (2) sensors. The typographical error has no impact on emission performance or drivability. The remainder of the 2006 model year affected VECI label is correct.
