SUBJECT: Engine Misfire Codes - P0301 P0302, P0303, and/or P0304
INTRODUCTION
In the event you encounter a vehicle with any of these misfire codes, follow the diagnostics for the code(s) as listed in the applicable service manual. If no cause is found, reprogram the ECM using the recently released reprogramming file for code P050A, as shown below. This reprogramming file includes a software improvement that has been shown to reduce misfire when it is unrelated to any component failure.
COUNTERMEASURE IN PRODUCTION
The new logic was used in production on May 23, 2011, starting with VIN B*762619.
