Engine Controls - DTC P2610 Stored In ECM

NUMBER: 11-105-11
DATE: 11/01/11

APPLICABILITY:
2011 Forester 2.5L N/A

SUBJECT:
DTC P2610 ECM/PCM (Internal Engine off Timer Performance)

INTRODUCTION

There is the possibility that DTC P2610 can be stored in memory if the vehicle experiences 2 consecutive occurrences where the engine is run for a period of less than 15 seconds followed immediately by a more than 5 hour soak. As an example, the car is started, backed out of a garage and then shut off (in less than 15 seconds). The car is then left sitting for more than 5 hours, started and returned to the garage (again, in less than 15 seconds) The vehicle is then left to soak overnight before the next run cycle.

In this situation, ECM replacement is not required as indicated in the service manual Reprogramming files are now available to remedy the condition.

Note:
ECM reprogramming files were sent to all SDS users in the October 2011 SSMIII Update version 1.28.42.7.
