Air Flow Meter/Sensor: Testing and Inspection

Fig. 65 Air Flow Meter Circuit:

Air flow sensor is part of the Air Flow Meter (AFM). Do not separate air flow sensor from its body.
1. Remove AFM from vehicle, then connect AFS coupler.
2. Remove coupler seal from AFS coupler.
3. Connect voltmeter between coupler terminals B and C, Fig. 65.
4. Turn ignition switch On, check if battery voltage is present. If battery voltage is not present, check wire harness for open or poor connection at A3 and A5 terminals of ECM.
5. If battery voltage is present, check voltage between terminals D and C, Fig. 65.
6. Voltage should be .2--.8 volts when air is not blown across sensor. Voltage should increase as air is blown across sensor.
7. If test is not satisfactory, check for poor connection of AFS coupler or AFS is faulty.
