Disassembly, Inspection and Assembly

DISASSEMBLY:

Refer to Fig. 3 when performing the following procedure.
1. Remove distributor as previously described.

2. Remove rotor and cap seal.
3. Remove igniter screws and igniter, then remove pickup coil screws and pickup coil with igniter.
4. Remove E-ring and screw, then pull out vacuum controller.
5. If necessary, remove base plate screws and washers, then the base plate assembly.

ASSEMBLY:

1. Reverse disassembly procedure to assemble, noting the following:
a. Align base plate screws with housing grooves.
b. When installing pickup coil, use screws with lock washers and washers.
c. Adjust signal rotor air gap as described under ``Air Gap, Adjust.''
d. After tightening pickup coil screws, check base plate for smooth rotation by pushing pickup coil cover with finger and releasing it.
e. Ensure pickup coil tooth is free of metal particles.
