Fuel Filter: Service and Repair

Fuel Filter:

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. After making sure that engine is cold, release fuel pressure in fuel feed line.

CAUTION: This work must not be done when engine is hot.

2. Negative cable at battery.
3. Fuel filter cap from fuel filler neck to release fuel vapor pressure in fuel tank. After releasing, reinstall cap.
4. Hoist vehicle.
5. Place fuel container under fuel filter.
6. Inlet and outlet pipes from fuel filter by using two wrenches.
7. Fuel filter from chassis frame.

Fuel Filter Pipes In Recessed Plate:

INSTALL OR CONNECT
Reverse removal procedure noting the following.
^ Use new gaskets.
^ Make sure that gasketed surfaces are free from any damage.
^ Inlet and outlet pipes should come into recess of plate as shown.
^ Tighten union bolts to specified torque.

Tightening torque of fuel filter union bolts
30 - 40 Nm (3.0 - 4.0 kg-m, 22.0 - 28.5 lb-ft)

^ Upon completion of installation, verify that there is no fuel leakage at each connection.
