Fuel Injector: Service and Repair

Removal
1. Relieve fuel pressure.
2. Disconnect battery negative cable at battery.
3. Remove throttle cover.





4. Remove air intake pipe with hose.





5. Detach intake manifold No.2 stiffener from intake manifold and surge tank.





6. Disconnect coupler from each injector.





7. Remove fuel pressure regulator from delivery pipe and drain fuel delivery pipe.
8. Remove clamp bolts for fuel feed pipe and return pipe.





9. Remove fuel delivery pipe bolts.
10. Remove fuel injector(s).

Installation





1. Replace injector 0 ring with new one using care not to damage it. Install grommet to injector.





2. Check if insulator is scored or damaged. If it is, replace with new one.
Install insulators and spacers to intake manifold.





3. Apply thin coat of fuel to O-rings and then install injectors into delivery pipe and intake manifold.
Make sure that injectors rotate smoothly. If not, probable cause is incorrect installation of 0 ring. Replace 0 ring with new one.
4. Tighten delivery pipe bolts and make sure that injectors rotate smoothly.

Tightening Torque:
(a): 23 Nm (17 ft lb)


5. Install fuel pressure regulator.
6. Install clamp bolts for fuel feed pipe and return pipe.
7. Connect couplers to injectors securely.
8. Install air intake pipe and hose.
9. Connect battery negative cable.
10. With engine "OFF" and ignition switch "ON", check for fuel leaks around fuel line connection.
