Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch (For Computer): Service and Repair

Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor Removal And Installation

Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor Removal

1. Relieve the pressure in the coolant reservoir by turning the coolant reservoir cap slightly counterclockwise.




2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.




3. Remove the VIS vacuum tank. Refer to VIS Vacuum Tank Removal. Service and Repair
4. Disconnect the engine coolant temperature sensor (ECTS) connector.




5. Remove the ECTS from the cylinder head.

Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor Installation

1. Installation should follow the removal procedure in the reverse order.




2. Install the ECTS.

NOTE: Apply the sealant to the threads on the ECTS.

Tighten:
Tighten the ECTS to 15 ~ 20 N.m (11 ~ 15 lb.ft).




3. Install the VIS vacuum tank.

Tighten:
Tighten the VIS vacuum tank retaining bolts to 7 ~ 9 N.m (62 ~ 80 lb.in).
