Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve Adapter and Internal PCV Pipe Removal and Installation

Removal
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

WARNING: To prevent personal injury, do not remove the surge tank cap white the engine and the radiator are hot because the heat causes the system to remain under pressure. Scalding fluid and steam may be blown out under pressure.

2. Drain the coolant fluid. Refer to Engine Cooling.
3. Remove the upper camshaft cover. Refer to DOHC Engine Mechanical.
4. Remove the ignition wires from the cylinder block and Direct Ignition System (DIS).
5. Disconnect the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve connector and Coolant Temperature Sensor (CTS) connector.
6. Remove the heater return hose at EGR valve adapter and internal PCV pipe.
7. Remove the EGR valve adapter and internal PCV pipe retaining bolts.




8. Remove the EGR valve adapter and internal PCV pipe gasket.

Installation
1. Install the EGR valve adapter and internal PCV pipe with the gasket.
2. Install the EGR valve adapter internal PCV pipe retaining bolts.

Tighten:
^ Tighten the EGR valve adapter retaining bolt (1 to 20 Nm (14.8 ft. lbs.).
^ Tighten the EGR valve adapter retaining bolts (2 to 20 Nm (22 ft. lbs.).




3. Install the heater return hose to EGR valve adapter.
