DTC C1230: Transfer Actuator Circuit Malfunction
Wiring Diagram
DTC Detecting Condition and Trouble Area
DTC Confirmation Procedure
1) Clear DTC using scan tool.
2) Select transfer switch to "4H" position and keep its position for 10 seconds. Similarly select transfer switch to "4H-lock", "N" and "4L-lock" position.
3) Check DTC.
Troubleshooting
1.
Was "4WD control system check" performed?
YES -
Go to Step 2.
NO -
Go to 4WD Control System Check 4WD Control System Check:Motor-Shift Type (Transfer with Shift Actuator).
2. Wire circuit check
Turn ignition switch to OFF position.
Disconnect shift actuator connector and 4WD control module connector.
Check for proper terminal connection to shift actuator connector and 4WD control module connector.
If terminal connections are OK, check for open, short to ground and high resistance in following wire circuit.
- Between "C54-1" terminal of transfer shift actuator connector and "E91-2" terminal of 4WD control module connector
- Between "C54-4" terminal of transfer shift actuator connector and "E91-3" terminal of 4WD control module connector
Are they in good condition?
YES -
Go to Step 3.
NO -
Repair malfunction wire circuit.
3. Transfer shift actuator check
Check transfer shift actuator referring to Inspection Transfer Assembly Inspection:Motor-Shift Type (Transfer with Shift Actuator).
Is transfer shift actuator in good condition?
YES -
Go to Step 4.
NO -
Replace transfer shift actuator.
4. Transfer shift mechanism check
Check shift mechanism of transfer (shift forks, sleeves, gears, etc) referring to Inspection Transfer Assembly Inspection:Motor-Shift Type (Transfer with Shift Actuator).
Is transfer shift mechanism in good condition?
YES -
Substitute a known-good 4WD control module and recheck.
NO -
Repair malfunction part of transfer.
