Steering Angle Sensor Removal and Installation

Removal

1) Before removal, make sure of the following:
- Vehicle is placed on level ground.
- Parking brake is applied.
- Engine stops and ignition mode is in "ON".
- Steering wheel is in straight-ahead position.
2) Remove steering wheel. Steering Wheel Removal and Installation
3) Remove lighting switch and wiper & washer switch.
4) Remove screws and claws and remove whole unit of steering angle sensor from steering column. Steering Wheel and Column Components
5) Perform contact coil centering. Procedures
6) Remove screws (1) and steering angle sensor (2) from contact coil cable assembly bracket (3).






Installation

Reverse removal procedure, noting the following points.

- Install the steering angle sensor to contact coil after performing centering of contact coil.
- Do not rotate the rotor of removed steering angle sensor until the steering angle sensor is reinstalled to contact coil.
- A new steering angle sensor is secured by a lock pin. After fitting new steering angle sensor to contact coil, remove the lock pin from the steering angle sensor. Remove lock pin so that steering angle sensor will not be turned when projection to contact coil cable assembly.
- There are large and small grooves and projections and make sure to fit large groove (a) to large projection (b).
