Air Bag Diagnostic System Check Flow

NOTE:

Failure to use proper diagnostic and repair procedures when following the diagnostic flow charts can result in extended diagnostic time, false diagnosis results, parts damage, or inappropriate parts replacement.

- Be sure to use the correct terminal adapter from the connector test adapter kit (special tool) for resistance or voltage measurement.
- Do not try to repair a faulty air bag wire harness if you find an open circuit, defective connector, or damaged terminal. Replace the wire harness as an assembly.

NOTE:

- Be sure to perform Air Bag Diagnostic System Check Air Bag Diagnostic System Check:Advanced Air Bag
before starting diagnosis according to each flow.

- When a check for proper connection is required, refer to Inspection of Intermittent and Poor Connections Inspection of Intermittent and Poor Connections:Advanced Air Bag.

1. Battery voltage check.

Measure battery voltage.

Is it 10 - 14 V?
YES -
Go to Step 2.
NO -
Proceed to Testing and Inspection Battery Inspection.

2. "AIR BAG" warning light check (6 times flushing check)

Turn ON ignition switch, and then check that "AIR BAG" warning light flushes.

Does "AIR BAG" warning light flash 6 times?
YES -
Go to Step 3.
NO -
Go to Step 4.

3. "AIR BAG" warning light check (turning off check)

In the state of step 2. check that "AIR BAG" warning light turn OFF.

Does "AIR BAG" warning light turn OFF, after flashing 6 times?
YES -
Go to Step 5.
NO -
Go to Step 6.

4. "AIR BAG" warning light circuit check

Does "AIR BAG" warning light come ON steady?
YES -
Proceed to AIR BAG Warning Light Comes ON Steady "AIR BAG" Warning Light Comes ON Steady:Advanced Air Bag
After inspect, go to Step 6.
NO -
Proceed to AIR BAG Warning Light Does Not Come ON "AIR BAG" Warning Light Does Not Come ON:Advanced Air Bag. After inspect, go to Step 6.

5. DTC check

Check DTC using SUZUKI scan tool referring to DTC Check DTC Check:Advanced Air Bag.

Is "NO CODES" displayed on SUZUKI scan tool?
YES -
Air bag system is in good condition.
NO -
Check intermittent troubles referring to Inspection of Intermittent and Poor Connections Inspection of Intermittent and Poor Connections:Advanced Air Bag.
If intermittent troubles are OK, check and repair applicable DTC flow and then repeat this flow.

6. DTC check

Check DTC using SUZUKI scan tool, referring to DTC Check DTC Check:Advanced Air Bag.

Is "NO CODES" displayed on SUZUKI scan tool?
YES -
Substitute a known-good SDM and recheck.
NO -
Check and repair applicable DTC flow, and then repeat this flow.
