Suspension Arm Removal and Installation

NOTE:

If the steering knuckle assembly is not removed and installed carefully, the drive shaft dust cover and brake dust cover may damage the dust boots of the suspension arm joints.

When removing and installing the steering knuckle assembly, be careful not to damage the suspension arm joint dust boots.

Removal

1) Hoist vehicle and remove wheel.
2) Remove steering knuckle with front wheel hub referring to Front Wheel Hub, Steering Knuckle and Wheel Bearing Removal and Installation Front Wheel Hub, Steering Knuckle and Wheel Bearing Removal and Installation.
3) Remove suspension arm bolts (1).

NOTE:
The suspension arm bolts are pre-coated with friction stabilizer. If these bolts are reused, they may work loose.

Be sure to replace the suspension arm bolts with new ones whenever they are removed.

4) Remove suspension arm (2).






Installation

Suspension Arm Joint Check
1) Install suspension arm as shown but tighten suspension arm bolts (1) only temporarily.





2) Install steering knuckle with front wheel hub referring to Front Wheel Hub, Steering Knuckle and Wheel Bearing Removal and Installation Front Wheel Hub, Steering Knuckle and Wheel Bearing Removal and Installation.
3) Install wheel and tighten wheel nuts to specified torque referring to Removal and Replacement Wheel (with Tire) Removal and Installation.
4) Lower hoist with vehicle in unloaded condition, tighten suspension arm bolts to specified torque.

Tightening torque
Suspension arm bolt (a): 95 Nm (9.5 kgf-m, 69.0 lbf-ft)





5) Confirm front wheel alignment referring to Front Wheel Alignment Inspection and Adjustment Front Wheel Alignment Inspection and Adjustment.
