Engine Code Identification

To identify an engine by the manufacturer's code, follow the four steps designated by the numbered blocks.

V.I.N. PLATE LOCATION:

1983-81 Pickup-Attached to driver's door pillar.

1987-81 Land Cruiser-Under hood.

All Others-Attached to top of instrument panel visible through windshield.

(1) MODEL YEAR IDENTIFICATION:

10th character of V.I.N.

(2) ENGINE CODE LOCATION:

4230cc eng.-Prefix to engine number on right side of engine block.

All other engines-Prefix to engine number on left side of engine block.
