NOTE: The 7M-GTE engine does not use a distributor. In its place a cam position sensor is used. For service procedures, refer to CAM POSITION SENSOR SERVICE.

1. Remove distributor cap and rotor, Fig. 23.
2. Remove dust cover and packing.
3. Align drilled mark on driven gear with housing cavity, then scribe reference marks on housing and distributor shaft.
4. Grind gear and pin, as necessary, then drive out pin and remove driven gear.
5. Reverse procedure to assemble, aligning reference marks on housing and distributor shaft as well as drilled mark on gear with housing cavity.
