Valve Clearance: Adjustments

3K-C VALVE ADJUSTMENT
1. Warm engine to operating temperature, 75° - 85° C (167° - 185° F).
2. Remove valve cover.
3. Tighten cylinder head bolts to 35 - 48 ft. lbs. and valve rocker support bolts to 13 - 17 ft. lbs.
4. Set engine idle speed to about 600 rpm.
5. Check valve clearance with a feeler guage between the rocker and valve.
To adjust, loosen the lock nut and turn the adjusting screw until the specified clearance is obtained. Then hold the adjusting screw and tighten the lock nut.

Specified clearance at 80° C (176° F)
Intake: 0.2 mm (0.008 in.)
Exhaust: 0.3 mm (0.012 in.)

Specified clearance at 20° C (68° F)
Intake: 0.08 mm (0.003 in.)
Exhaust: 0.18 mm (0.007 in.)
