Neutral Safety Switch: Adjustments

1. Raise and support vehicle.
2. Loosen neutral safety switch bracket bolt.
3. Position transmission shift lever into Neutral.

4. On all except A-40 and A-41 and all 1985-86 transmission models, align switch shaft groove with neutral base line, Fig. 10.
5. On A-40 and A-41 models and all 1985-86 automatic transmission equipped models, proceed as follows:
a. Disconnect neutral start switch electrical connector.

b. Connect a suitable ohmmeter between switch terminals, Fig. 11.

c. Align switch shaft groove with neutral base line, Fig. 12 and note ohmmeter reading. Ohmmeter should indicate continuity between neutral start switch connector terminals. If continuity cannot be obtained, replace switch.
d. Connect electrical connector onto switch.
