Starter Motor: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Disconnect front exhaust pipe and bracket assembly from exhaust manifold to gain access to starter motor.
3. Remove 2 mounting bolts, then raise intermediate steering shaft slightly. Disconnect intermediate shaft from steering gear, then pull shaft from mainshaft and remove from vehicle.
4. Remove two starter to clutch housing attaching bolts, then carefully lower starter and disconnect electrical connectors.
5. Reverse procedure to install.
