Valve Guide: Service and Repair

1. Using a suitable tool and hammer, strike valve guide bushing to break it off at cylinder head casting.
2. On all engine models except 4K-E engine, heat cylinder head to 176-212°F (80-100°C). On 4K-E engines, heat cylinder head to 212-266°F (100-130°C).
3. Using suitable valve guide removal tool, tap out bushing.
4. Install snap ring on new valve guide, then install new valve guide using tool as above and driving in from the reverse side of removal.
5. Ream new valve guide, if necessary. Refer to ``Valve Specifications'' for stem clearances.
