Engine: Service and Repair


2L ENGINE

1. Remove hood, then disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Drain cooling system and oil from engine.
3. Disconnect radiator hoses, then remove radiator from vehicle.
4. On manual transmission models, remove transmission from vehicle.
5. On California models, disconnect the following hoses:
a. Vacuum pump hose from HAC valve.
b. BVSV hose from air cleaner and VRV valve.
c. VRV hose from vacuum damper.
d. VRV hose from VSV valve.
e. EGR valve hose from VSV valve.
6. On California models, remove air cleaner assembly from engine.
7. Disconnect and plug heater hoses.
8. Disconnect accelerator cable from bracket.
9. On exc. California models, disconnect A/C vacuum hose from VSV valve.
10. Disconnect oil inlet hose from vacuum pump.
11. Remove A/C compressor from bracket and position aside. Do not disconnect refrigerant lines.
12. Disconnect and plug fuel lines.
13. Disconnect all electrical connectors from engine.
14. Remove engine under cover attaching bolts, then the under cover.
15. Remove power steering pump from bracket. Do not disconnect power steering pump fluid lines.
16. Remove engine mount shock absorber from crossmember.
17. Remove engine mount nuts and bolts.
18. Install suitable engine lifting equipment onto engine.
19. Remove engine from vehicle.
20. Reverse procedure to install.
