Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

Rear

Prior to checking and resetting rear wheel alignment, check tire pressure to ensure it is correct, check wheel bearings for looseness and correct as necessary and check wheel runout with a dial indicator. Wheel runout should not exceed .047 inch (1.2 mm).

Camber

Measure camber using suitable wheel alignment gauge. If reading is not within specifications, check for worn or damaged bushings or bent or damaged rear suspension components and repair/replace as necessary.

Toe-In, Adjust

1. Using a suitable measuring device, measure distance between inner wheel rim and differential carrier cover bolt. Both measurements should be the same. If the measurements are not the same, but within 0.20 in. of each other, adjust toe-in adjusting bolt to bring toe-in within limits.
2. If toe-in is not within specifications, rotate left and right side adjusting bolts and equal amount to adjust. Toe-in will change approximately .04 inch (1 mm) with each graduation marked on cam.
