Cruise Control Servo: Testing and Inspection

CONTROL CABLE FREEPLAY

Control Cable Freeplay Check:

1. Measure cable stroke to where throttle valve begins opening.
2. Measurement should be approximately 0.39 in (10 mm) with a slight amount of freeplay.
3. If not as specified, adjust freeplay.

RESISTANCE TEST

Resistance Check:

1. Check resistance between terminals 2 and 3. It should be approximately 30 ohms.
2. Check resistance between terminals 1 and 3. It should be approximately 68 ohms.
3. If not as specified, replace actuator.

OPERATION TEST

Operation Check:

1. Connect battery positive to terminals 1 and 2. Connect negative to terminal 3.
2. Slowly apply vacuum from 0 - 11.81 inHg (0 - 300 mmHg) and check that control cable can be pulled smoothly.
3. Disconnect terminal 1 or 2. Check that control cable returns to original position and vacuum returns to zero.
4. If operation is not as specified, replace actuator.
