Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

Test Description

The following procedure allows separate inspection of each TCCS circuit. This test is meant to be performed in conjunction with the self diagnosis system test and component tests, and allows system wiring harnesses to be tested from the ECU connector.
1. Remove glove box door and glove box on all except MR2 models. On MR2 models, remove rear luggage compartment trim.
2. Remove ECU from mount, leaving electrical connectors connected.
3. Except for Cressida and Supra models equipped with 5M-GE engines perform voltage checks with ECU connectors connected.
4. On Cressida and Supra models equipped with 5M-GE engines, perform resistance checks with all connectors disconnected from ECU. Do not ground or apply voltage to ECU terminals.
5. If readings are not as specified, check continuity of wiring between ECU connector and individual components.
6. If wiring is satisfactory, test individual components.
7. If wiring and individual components are satisfactory, but the malfunction remains, substitute a known good ECU and recheck system.
