Distributor Advance Unit: Testing and Inspection

1. Remove distributor cap retaining screws, and remove distributor cap.

Centrifugal Advance Test:

2. Turn the ignition rotor counterclockwise and release. Ensure that the ignition rotor returns quickly to its original position.

3. Ensure that the ignition rotor is not excessively loose.

4. If the ignition rotor did not turn or return in step #2, overhaul distributor or replace governor advance weights and springs as necessary.

5. If the ignition rotor was excessively loose in step #3, inspect and replace governor advance weights and springs as necessary.
