Removal and Installation

REMOVAL:

Ignition Wire Removal:





1. Remove spark plug wires from spark plugs.

2. Disconnect distributor primary wire connector.

3. Remove distributor hold down bolts.

Distributor Removal And Installation:





4. Remove distributor from cylinder head.

INSTALLATION:

1. Remove #1 spark plug.

2. Place your finger over the #1 spark plug hole.

TDC Alignment:





3. Rotate the crankshaft clockwise to TDC. When pressure is felt on your finger, this is TDC/compression stroke of #1 cylinder.

4. Install #1 spark plug.

Distributor O-ring Installation:





5. Lightly coat a new distributor O ring with engine oil prior to installing distributor.

Distributor Alignment:





6. Align the protrusion on the housing with groove of the coupling side.

Distributor Removal And Installation:





7. Install the distributor and align the protrusion of the flange with the nut of the valve cover.

8. Lightly tighten the distributor hold down bolts.

9. Reconnect the distributor primary wire connector, distributor cap, and spark plug wires.

10. Adjust ignition timing. Refer to ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURES.
