Engine Control Module: Testing and Inspection

ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM) INSPECTION

HINT: The MFI circuits can be checked by measuring the resistance and voltage at the wiring connectors of the ECM.

1. TO ACCESS THE ECM, DISCONNECT FRONT SIDE OF LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT FLOOR MAT FROM PARTITION PANEL.
2. PREPARATION.
- Disconnect the 3 connectors from the ECM.

- Remove the locks as shown in the illustration so that the tester probe(s) can easily come in.
NOTICE: Pay attention to sections A and B in the illustration which can easily broken.

- Reconnect the 3 connectors to the ECM.

3. INSPECT VOLTAGE OF ECM TERMINALS.
- Turn the ignition switch ON.

- Measure the voltage between each terminal of the wiring connectors.

HINT:
- Do all voltage measurements with the connectors connected.
- Verify that the battery voltage is 11.0 volts or more when the ignition switch is ON.

4. INSPECT RESISTANCE OF ECM
- Turn the ignition switch OFF.
- Disconnect the 3 connectors from the ECM.

- Measure ?he resistance between each terminal of the wiring connectors.

HINT:
- Do not touch the ECM terminals.
- The tester probe should be inserted in the wiring connector from the wiring side.
