Ignition Control Module: Testing and Inspection

PROCEDURE

NOTE: This is a test of the Ignition circuit. As there is no component test of the Igniter itself, a process of elimination is used to find if the Igniter is at fault.
CHECK THAT SPARK OCCURS.
- Disconnect the high-tension cords from the spark plugs.
- Remove the spark plugs.
- Install the spark plugs to each high-tension cord.
- Ground the spark plug.
- Check if spark occurs while engine is being cranked.

HINT: To prevent gasoline from being injected from injectors during this test, crank the engine for no more than 1 - 2 seconds at a time.





- If the spark does not occur, perform the test indicated above.
