Starter Motor: Service and Repair

1. On models with coded audio anti-theft systems, refer to Technician Safety Information for code procedures.
2. Disconnect battery cables and remove battery and tray.
3. On models with cruise control, remove cruise control actuator as follows:
a. Remove bolt, clip and actuator cover.
b. Disconnect actuator connector and clamp.
c. Remove three bolts, and disconnect actuator with bracket.
4. Disconnect starter connector and starter to battery cable.
5. Remove two bolts, then the starter.
6. Reverse procedure to install, then torque starter mounting bolts to 29 ft. lb.
7. Reset audio anti-theft system, if necessary, as outlined under Technician Safety Information.
