Neutral Safety Switch: Service and Repair

REPLACEMENT
1. Remove air cleaner assembly.





2. Disconnect park/neutral position switch connector.
3. Remove park/neutral position switch, as follows:





a. Remove the nut and disconnect the control cable.





b. Remove the nut, washer and transaxle control shaft lever.
c. Pry off the lock plate and remove the nut.
d. Remove the two bolts and the park/neutral position switch.
4. Install and adjust park/neutral position switch, as follows:





a. Install the park/neutral position switch with the bolts.
b. Install a new lock plate and nut.
c. Stake the nut with the lock plate.





d. Adjust the park/neutral position switch.





e. Install the transaxle control shaft lever, washer and nut.





f. Install the control cable with the nut, tightening the nut to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.).





5. Connect park/neutral position switch connector.
6. Test drive vehicle.
