Ignition Coil: Testing and Inspection

INSPECTION

INSPECT IGNITION COILS
(a) Disconnect high-tension cords from ignition coils
(b) Disconnect ignition coil connectors





(c) Inspect the primary coil resistance.
Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals.





Primary coil resistance:

If the resistance is not as specified, replace the ignition coil.





(d) Inspect the secondary coil resistance.
Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the positive (+) and high-tension terminal.

Secondary coil resistance:

AISAN made:





Diamond made:

If the resistance is not as specified, replace the ignition coil.
(e) Reconnect the ignition coil connectors.
(f) Reconnect the high-tension cords to the ignition coils.
