Disassembly and Assembly






DISASSEMBLY
1. Remove coil spring.
a. Install two nuts and a bolt to the bracket at the lower portion of the shock absorber and secure it in a vise.





b. Using Special Service Tool (SST) 09727 - 30021 or equivalent, compress the coil spring.

NOTICE:
- Do not use an impact wrench. It will damage the SST.
- When holding the shock absorber with the coil spring removed, do not hold it by the spring lower seat. Also, do not knock the spring lower seat.





c. Using SST 09729 - 22031 to hold the suspension support, remove the nut.
d. Remove the suspension support.
e. Remove the bearing.
f. Remove the upper spring seat.
g. Remove the upper coil spring insulator.
h. Remove the coil spring.
i. Remove the dust cover.
j. Remove the spring bumper.
k. Remove the lower coil spring insulator.

NOTICE: When removing or installing the shock absorber, if the bearing becomes separated in any way, it must be replaced by a new bearing.


ASSEMBLY
1. Install the lower coil spring insulator onto the shock absorber.





2. Install the coil spring.
a. Using SST 09727 - 30021, compress the coil spring.

NOTICE: Do not use an impact wrench. It will damage the SST.

b. Install the coil spring to the shock absorber.

HINT: Fit the lower end of the coil spring into the gap of the lower spring seat.

3. Install spring bumper and dust cover.
a. Install the spring bumper to piston rod.
b. Position the upper coil spring insulator to the upper spring seat.
c. Position the dust cover to the upper spring seat.
d. Install the upper spring seat with the dust cover to the shock absorber.





e. Align the 'OUT' mark on the upper spring seat to the point outward from the vehicle in its installed position.
f. Install the bearing and suspension support.





g. Using SST 09729 - 22031, to hold the suspension support, install a new nut.
Torque: 47 Nm (35 ft. lbs.)
h. Remove the SST.

NOTICE: Check that the bearing fits into the recess in the suspension support.
