When replacing the 3rd gear or hub sleeve no. 2 of S5# manual transaxles on vehicles produced before April 1990, all of the parts listed must be replaced as a set due to an uneven-pitch chamfer that was adopted for the 2nd and 3rd gears from October, 1993.





PART NUMBER INFORMATION:





S53, S54 (Celica, MR2): Production before 04/90

HINT:
For identification purposes, we have included 2 simple profile line drawings of both the 4th gear synchronizer ring No. 2 (P/N 33368-32020) and 3rd gear synchronizer ring No. 2 (P/N 33368-17011).





You will note the differences in the shape of the splines and key slots for the two components. This is to avoid any confusion when installing these parts.
