Subject:
TETHER ANCHORAGES FOR CHILD RESTRAINTS

Effective January 1, 1989, the Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Act mandated the installation of Tether Anchorages for all passenger cars operating in Canada and manufactured from the effective date. Furthermore, it was stipulated that the Tether Anchorage hardware be either installed in the Tether Anchorage or be provided with the vehicle. It was therefore decided that the Tether Anchorage hardware for all affected Toyota vehicles would be placed in the glove box.

The Child Restraint Section found in all Owner's Manuals clearly illustrates the proper installation of Child Restraints including the securing of Tether Anchorages and hardware. This section should be carefully reviewed with all customers intending to transport young children in their vehicle. It also lists the part numbers for most components of Toyota's Child Restraint System. Please note that the P/N for the tether anchor bracket sub-assembly is listed in the various microfiche parts catalogues.

Should you or your staff require any further information related to Child Restraint Systems, please contact our :
