Quarter Window Glass: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

1. REMOVE NO. 2 ROOM LIGHT
a. Remove the room light cover, 4 screws and No. 2 room light.
b. Disconnect the connector.




2. REMOVE REAR HEADER TRIM
Using a screwdriver, remove the rear header trim.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

3. REMOVE BACK DOOR SCUFF PLATE
Remove the 5 screws and back door scuff plate.

4. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE
Remove the 2 screws and rear door scuff plate.




5. REMOVE REAR SEAT SIDE GARNISH
Using a screwdriver, remove the rear seat side garnish.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

6. REMOVE DECK SIDE TRIM




a. RH:
Using a screwdriver, remove the D/C outlet bezel, then disconnect the connector.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

b. w/ Tonneau cover:
Remove the tonneau cover.

c. w/ Tonneau cover:
Remove the 2 screws and tonneau cover holder.

d. w/ Tonneau cover:
Remove the screw and tonneau cover hook.

e. Remove the screw.
f. Remove the rear No. 1 seat outer belt floor anchor.
g. Remove the rear No. 2 seat outer belt.
h. Insert a screwdriver between the trim and door panel to remove the trim, then disconnect the connector.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

i. Remove the deck side trim with the rear No. 1 and No. 2 seat belts passed through its hole.

7. REMOVE QUARTER WINDOW GLASS




a. w/ Diversity antenna:
Disconnect the connector.

b. Push piano wire through between body and glass from the interior.
c. Tie both wire ends to a wooden block or similar object.

HINT: Apply protective tape to the outer surface to keep the surface from being scratched.

NOTE: When separating the glass, take care not to damage the paint and exterior.

d. Cut the adhesive by pulling the piano wire around it.

HINT: Cut the adhesive as shown in the illustration, leaving the adhesive where the pins are.




e. Push the piano wire through as shown in the illustration, cut off the adhered parts to the clip.
f. Remove the glass.

NOTE: Leave as much of the adhesive on the body as possible when cutting off the glass.

INSTALLATION

1. CLEAN AND SHAPE CONTACT SURFACE OF BODY




a. Using a knife, cut away any rough areas on the body.

HINT: Lease as much of the adhesive on the body as possible.

b. Clean the cutting surface of the adhesive with a piece of shop rag saturated in cleaner.

HINT: Even if all the adhesive has been removed, clean the body.

2. REPLACE SPACER
a. Remove the damaged spacer.
b. Cut off the old adhesive around the spacer installation area.

NOTE: Be careful not to damage the glass.

c. Install a new spacer.

3. CLEAN REMOVED GLASS




a. Using a scraper, remove the adhesive sticking to the glass.
b. Clean the glass with cleaner.

NOTE: Do not touch the glass after cleaning it.




4. COAT CONTACT SURFACE OF BODY WITH PRIMER "M"
Using a brush, coat Primer M to the exposed part of body on the vehicle side.

NOTE:
- Let the primer coating dry for 3 minutes or more.
- Do not coat Primer M to the adhesive.
- Do not keep any of the opened Primer M for later use.

5. COAT CONTACT SURFACE OF GLASS WITH PRIMER "G"




a. Using a brush or sponge, coat the edge of the glass and contact surface with Primer G.
b. Before the primer dries, wipe it off with a clean shop rag.

NOTE:
- Let the primer coating dry for 3 minutes or more.
- Do not keep any of the opened Primer G for later use.

6. APPLY ADHESIVE




a. Cut off the tip of the cartridge nozzle.

Part No. 08850-00801 or equivalent






HINT: After cutting off the tip, use all adhesive within the time described in the table.

b. Load the cartridge into the sealer gun.
c. Coat the glass with adhesive as shown in the illustration.

A: 8.0 mm (0.315 in.)
B: 12.0 mm (0.472 in.)

7. INSTALL QUARTER WINDOW GLASS
a. Install the glass to the body.
b. Use adhesive tape to keep the glass installed tightly against the body.






NOTE: Take care not to drive the vehicle during the time described in the table.

8. INSPECT FOR LEAKS AND REPAIR
a. Conduct a leak test after the hardening time has elapsed.
b. Seal any leak with sealant.

Part No. 08833-00030 or equivalent

9. INSTALL DECK SIDE TRIM
a. Connect the connector, and install the deck side trim with the rear No. 1 and No. 2 seat belts passed through its hole.
b. Install the rear No. 2 seat outer belt.

Torque: 42 N.m (430 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf)

c. Install the rear No. 1 seat outer belt floor anchor.

Torque: 42 N.m (430 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf)

d. Install the screw.
e. w/ Tonneau cover:
Install the tonneau cover hook with the screw.

f. w/ Tonneau cover:
Install the tonneau cover holder with the 2 screws.

g. w/ Tonneau cover:
Install the tonneau cover.

h. RH: Connect the connector and install the D/C outlet bezel.

10. INSTALL REAR SEAT SIDE GARNISH
11. INSTALL REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE
Install the rear door scuff plate with the 2 screws.

12. INSTALL BACK DOOR SCUFF PLATE
Install the back door scuff plate with the 5 screws.

13. INSTALL REAR HEADER TRIM
14. INSTALL NO. 2 ROOM LIGHT
a. Connect the connector.
b. Install the No. 2 room light with the 4 screws and room light cover.
