Introduction

Some 2001 - 2002 model year 4X4 RAV4 vehicles equipped with a manual transmission may exhibit the following conditions:

^ Fluctuating speedometer needle

and/or

^ Slight variations in speed while using the cruise control at highway speeds.

Use the following repair procedure to replace the speedometer drive gear and pinion shafts.

Applicable Vehicles
^ 2001 - 2002 model year 4X4 RAV4 vehicles with MTM produced BEFORE the Production Change Effective VINs shown below.

Required Tools & Material

Repair Follow the procedure as outlined in the Manual Transaxle section of the RAV4 Repair Procedure Manual and replace the speedometer drive gear and pinion shafts.





Warranty Information

Applicable Warranty *:

This repair is covered under the Toyota Powertrain Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 60 months or 60,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.

* Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.
