Transmission Position Sensor/Switch: Service and Repair

ON-VEHICLE REPAIR
1. REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER





2. REMOVE TRANSMISSION CONTROL SHAFT LEVER
3. DISCONNECT PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH CONNECTOR





4. REMOVE PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH
a. Pry off the lock washer and remove the nut.
b. Remove the bolt and park/neutral position switch.
5. INSTALL PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH
a. Install the park/neutral position switch with bolt.
Torque: 13 Nm (130 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.)
b. Install a new lock plate and the nut.
Torque: 3.9 Nm (40 kgf-cm, 35 inch lbs.)
c. Bent the claws on the lock plate to stake the nut.
d. Adjust the park/neutral position switch.
6. CONNECT PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH CONNECTOR
7. INSTALL TRANSMISSION CONTROL SHAFT LEVER
Adjust the shift lever position.
Torque:
Park/neutral position switch side: 16 Nm (160 kgf-cm, 12 ft. lbs.)
Transmission control rod side: 13 Nm (130 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.)
8. INSTALL NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER
