Positive Crankcase Ventilation: Testing and Inspection
INSPECTION1. REMOVE PCV VALVE
a. Disconnect the PCV hose from the PCV valve.
b. Remove the PCV valve.
PCV Testing:
c. Install a clean hose to PCV valve.
d. Inspect the PCV valve operation.
1. Blow air into the cylinder head side, and check that the air passes through easily.
CAUTION: Do not suck the air through the valve. Petroleum substances inside the valve are harmful.
2. Blow air into the intake manifold side, and check that the air passes through with a little difficulty.
If the operation is not as specified, replace the PCV valve.
e. Remove the clean hose from the PCV valve.
f. Reinstall the PCV valve.
2. INSPECT HOSES, CONNECTIONS AND GASKETS
Visually check for cracks, leaks or damage.
