October 17, 2003: The Parts Information table has been removed because the field fix does not require a new service part. The introduction has also been clarified. The previous TSB should be discarded.

Introduction

Some customers may experience a slight wind noise from either side of the vehicle on 2003 model year Tacoma vehicles with manual outside mirrors. The mirror gasket has been modified to improve this condition. Reseal mirror gasket as shown in the following Repair Procedures.

Warranty Information

Applicable Warranty:

This repair is covered under the Toyota Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.

* Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.

Repair Procedure

Please refer to the Technical Information System (TIS) 2003 model year Tacoma Repair Manual: Body (Mechanical), Front Door.

1. Remove the Left Outer Rear View Mirror Assembly.





2. Locate the two pinholes on the mirror weatherstrip.

3. Using the 3M Auto Glass Butyl Sealer, plug the two pinholes.

4. Reassemble in reverse order.

5. Test drive to confirm the noise level.
